“Marco Polo – The Silk Road” was a tribute by one of the great photographers of National Geographic Michael Yamashita to the great Venetian traveller who inspired Christopher Columbus and countless other explorers and their achievement. Following the exceptional narratives from “The Travels of Marco Polo”, Yamashita rediscovered the many traditions and places recounted by the Venetian merchant, rendering justice to Marco Polo’s direct testimony of those remote lands. The exhibit essentially let visitors experience glimpses of a world frozen in time (almost 700 years ago), once more bringing back to life the epic journey along the Silk Road.
