The itinerary illustrated the important markets and maritime routes of the spice trade and gave a detailed explanation of the herbs and spices from those routes: starting with carpet dyes and moving on to areas dedicated to chilli peppers, ginger, nutmeg, saffron, vanilla, cloves, cinnamon, sesame, illustrating objects, perfume and evocative images of harvested ingredients that still enrich our dishes, arousing taste buds and stirring the imagination.
